WHAT IS THE DIGITAL-ONLY FASHION?
Digital-only Fashion refers to clothing that exists only in the digital realm. This includes items like virtual outfits that are used in video games or other online environments. Because Digital Fashion exists only in the virtual world, it cannot be worn physically. However, you can use it as a filter in apps such as Snapchat or Instagram, which allow you to superimpose virtual items onto your photos or videos. Additionally, some online environments, such as avatar-based virtual worlds (e.g. Decentraland, Sandbox, Voxels, Digital Village, Spatial.io, Oncyber, etc.), may allow you to “wear” Virtual Fashion within these environments. In this case, you would use a VR headset to interact with the space and see yourself wearing the e-garments.
The major platforms, such as Apple, Meta, Snapchat, etc. are building AR headsets which are going to be the new mobile phones. There is a lot of technology which is already built in the film and gaming industries. The cross-contamination of skills is happening between the artists who have been working in visual effects and filming for the last years, who now contribute to the virtual products and augmented reality experiences.
Complex advanced servers from gaming helped bring infrastructure for more people to interact in virtual environments. Games like The Sims, Second Life, and Roblox planted the seeds for what we now call the Digital Fashion industry. An example is The Sims, where you can create thousands of variations of outfits; however, you, the creator, can not use or wear them in your out-of-screen life. This is where Digital-only Fashion comes in. In gaming people are expressing themselves creatively, there are no constraints related to the physical reality, there is no gravity, no seasonality, no norms to follow. In gaming people choose to play the opposite gender than that they have in the physical world, they might not identify the gender at all, if they wish to.
During the pandemic we saw how e-commerce was changing. Creatives, brands, institutions and started to incorporate digital in their creative strategies. Some reports say that there is a much lesser amount of return when people are able to try things on using the AR or 3D visualization. The digitally-native goods have a higher profit margin because they are infinitely scalable, sustainable and rewarding. By buying into the virtual product, the community receives such benefits unlocking things in future as the physical world perks such as the access to special events and product lines etc.
Today, we’re thrilled to welcome Pedro Guez and Roger Haus, two fabulous trendsetters from the Digital Fashion community! 🎉

Pedro Guez´s quotes:
“The Fabricant Studio is a free tool to explore the co-creation. You can go and start to co-create your own digital collections and garments.”
“Have an open mind, go curious, get inspired and inspire others and the surroundings. Connect with everyone through URL events and online tools we have today. Co-creation means building the future we all deserve.”
“At The Fabricant we are developing our upcoming collection WHOLELAND which explores our digital identities and also mental health through digital fashion and garments, through these accessories collection. It is the first AI collection by The Fabricant which you could wear on Zoom calls and through the Snapchat. That is going to dropped in February 2023.”
“At The Fabricant we have the self-explore channel on Discord which is created by yours digitally and also Annatarian, my partner in crime, also a community manager. We host these weekly conversations on mental health through Digital Fashion and how can all support each other through some sketching activities. Self Explore Circle of 2022 sessions are about breathing and how we can use it with awareness. We explore alternate realities and the role of perception in our thoughts, actions, and behaviours.”
“I am launching The ‘Mars Glasses’ in Viva Magenta, inspired by Pantone’s Color of the Year 2023 and the most recent discoveries on Mars by
NASA. I am a big fan of a Pantone Institute. If I have an opportunity I create something out of that color of the year and call it an event or a garment or something like an excuse to apply that color. Glad to share what my curiosity has brought up by teaching myself new tools to keep creating.”“The ‘Mars Glasses’ are the digital glasses you can wear on Voxels — former Crypto Voxels -, on Snapchat, on Zoom Calls, and on TV. You can get the ‘Mars Glasses’ through Jevels.com which is the world´s first NFT ethereum-based platform, exclusively for virtual jewelry and fashion accessories. I am grateful for being a part of it.”
“If you are into film, please submit your film to the Film ASVOFF Festival in the new AI Film Category. This is an open invitation for you all. You can start creating your script, title, narrative, character, and animation, and use the AI tools for the editions. ASVOFF Festival will take place in September in Paris 2023. The winners will be showcased through our global TV network which goes to around 3 mln houses around the world. The AI is a future.”
“Film would be one of the keys to create the representations of ourselves in the mirror verse, or what we think the multiverse is today.”
“I am not interested in the cliche fashion. Style is different. You cannot buy style. That is what I like about the Digital Fashion. It is purely the self-expression.”
“Independent creators are the future, the present, that is the the pure gold. I think that is one of the reasons we are here together. It is all about supporting each other. Not only the brands and big projects, but independent creators, that is the priority.”
“After the lockdown I hope that this would change our behaviors and how we treat others. I hope AI can change our mind for a better future. AI is just a new window to the possible ideas, references and inspiration. It depends how you apply AI. Maybe tomorrow we will apply AI to medicine, to spiritual rituals, who knows, AI is here and depends on us. We are responsible of how we use it.”
“To keep the work-life balance in Web3 what helps me is to work out and keep good eating habits. It gives me a structured daily routine.”
“Be kind, it is the most importan today.”
2. ROGER HAUS

Interested in juxtapositions and coincidences, and passionate about Surrealism, his work is a blend of Digital Illustration, Animated Music, AI Art, and Art Direction. Roger´s most famous work is “Hypnagogies” in which he applies “automatism” method creating spontaneous connections between images expressing his unconscious mind. Since 2020, Roger has been a founder of Exquisite Workers. With hundreds of artists Roger co-created the longest shared digital artwork, the art representation of the blockchain, which became the first NFTs to exhibit at the largest climate conference COP26 by the UN. In 2021, Exquisite Workers collaborated with The Fabricant which turned out to be a continuous creative partnership in Digital Fashion.
Roger Haus´s work is available on OpenSea, KnownOrigin, Objkt.com, Foundation and SuperRare.

Roger Haus´s quotes:
“The pandemic and the long quarantine that the whole world went through in 2020 was a great revelation for me. I wanted to take advantage of a large amount of time and I founded the digitally native project Exquisite Workers. Exquisite Workers was born from the need to interconnect and collaborate among hundreds of creatives in difficult times such as the pandemic.”
“As a basis for creative exchange, I used the Exquisite Corpse game technique. Exquisite Corpse has a funny name, but it’s not as scary as it sounds. It’s a fun surreal practice where players contribute to a sequence of images without seeing the next or previous block.”
“At Exquisite Workers we seek to create a real impact in the lives of creators and put Barcelona on the map of the NFT scene. From our passion for Surrealism we build the culture of the Metaverse because virtual worlds are the reflection of our dreams. We believe that artists should be the ambassadors of cultural legacies and be at the forefront of technological innovation to contribute to the development of tomorrow’s heritage.”
“On April 6, 2020 we co-created the first Exquisite Corpse on Instagram with hundreds of artists from around the world. On May 1, 2021 we started our first NFT collection which finally came out after 12 months. One of the co-creators of our collection of 504 interconnected artworks was the very promising AI artist Jenni Pasanen, who minted her first AI artwork on ETH with us. One of the co-creators was also The Fabricant by the hand of Micaela Larrose who wrote a letter to the future that was interpreted visually by César Amézaga (aka Ultraviolence Graphics). César actively participated in the design of accessories and jewelry for the RTFKT Clonex Avatars collection in collaboration with Takashi Murakami. I am extremely happy that The Fabricant invited us to participate as co-creators of their collections such as World of Women collection.”
“The World of Women community, which as its name suggests is focused on women and its members are united by a unique avatar collection that shows the faces of enigmatic female characters. The Fabricant and the co-creators were invited to imagine what the avatar’s bodies and dresses would look like, the extension of the collectibles for the Metaverse. By embarking on this project, we wanted to make a significant contribution that we would be proud of over the years. Exquisite Workers were asked to submit different designs to be used as digital fashion fabrics and we thought Anna Dart’s pictorial work was a great fit for the proposal. So I took it upon myself to translate Anna’s paintings into digital language so that it would work as a pattern and could be used as a fabric.”
“Over three days, participants at The Fabricant Studio had the chance to customize their master dress with 24 colours, 20 materials and 27 looks to choose from. The designs we prepared from Anna became the most popular in the campaign. Since the closure of the collection, the collection is now a limited edition, making items rare and highly valuable. These dresses can be worn in different Metaverses, such as Decentraland and Sandbox.”
“The creation of a digital dress based on a traditional painting is truly significant for contemporary art history.”
“The digital dress is created in a way that accurately captures the details and qualities of the painting and is an important example of the use of technology to preserve, display art, and reimagine it in the limitless spectrum of innovation. Digital Dresses with “Turn” and “My Life is a Circus” fabrics have already been exhibited at the Seattle NFT Museum in the United States and at Amsterdam Central Station as a way to highlight the intersection between art and technology. Periodically The Fabricant opens calls to co-create pieces, so we recommend that you keep an eye on their Socials to be able to participate in them.”
“My first contact with AI was about 10 years ago with the appearance of Google Deep Dream. It was one of the first algorithms to come to light created by Google engineer Alexander Mordvintsey. The operation was very simple. You uploaded a photograph and the algorithm reinterpreted its shapes in a somewhat psychedelic way. There wasn’t any kind of control in the result, it was just clicking a button and the magic happened, but it was still fascinating. It was in 2022 that I began to be interested in AI again. First with Disco Diffusion, then with Midjourney, Dalle2 and finally Stable Diffusion.”
“I have been interested in creating works with a pictorial style, either static or in motion, almost always playing with pop icons from current and past culture, as well as experimenting in a field closer to that of photography. A few months ago a selection of my works was projected in a large building in Brussels thanks to Artcrush Gallery which became the first public AI art show in Belguim.”
“At the beginning of the summer, I explored Artificial Intelligence technology more in depth and was quickly seduced by the idea that with this technology we could actually travel to any time in history as if we were time travelers. Since then Time Traveler AI, the photographer of imaginary characters, has created the archive of the photos of the past, present and future in his albums. His last project was with Vitalik Buterin himself, whom he was able to convince to pose for his fashion photographs. From this extravagant imaginary collaboration, the digital clothing brand Vitalik Wear was born, where through fleeting trips to other times we explore fashion design with the help of Artificial Intelligence.”
“Traditionally, creativity has been seen as a uniquely human trait, but AI art challenges this notion by showing that machines are capable of generating truly original and thought-provoking works of art. Another important aspect of AI art is its ability to bring people together. By allowing artists to collaborate with AI, we can tap into a shared neural network and find new understandings and perspectives.”
